Electricity-related accidents are more lethal and costlier than many other types of accidents. People can suffer fatalities, or permanent burn injuries from fires which can also costs millions, if not billions, in Australia, every year. This is why it’s imperative that you pinpoint the position of the main switch of your building. No matter if it’s a residential or commercial complex, you have a responsibility to keep your employees and/or residents safe.
Keep a main switchboard sign close the main switchboard to assist with:
Ensure Safety
The first and foremost priority for you is the safety of the employees or residents. The main switchboard area of any construction is a highly risky area with a constant high voltage electricity flow. That's why it's a top priority to restrict general movements there. The best way to do so is to use an eye-catching sign to warn people to keep their distance.
Maintain Tidiness
The main switchboard sign will also help you maintain a tidy environment by warning people and restricting access. People will also be more careful around that area and will keep the area free of clutter for easy access if/when necessary.
Meet Safety Standards
Under Australian electrical safety guidelines, you have to use necessary safety signs in your building. Using the main switchboard sign is one of them.
A variety of options are available for the main switchboard sign. We recommend you pick one with laser engraved letters. This prevents the letters from peeling off or getting faded over time which counters the whole purpose of using the sign in the first place. Highly visible signs in a bright colour are usually what people prefer for these types of signs. You can also use decals if you desire. Visibility also depends on the size of the sign. So select a decent-sized sign, large enough to see and read easily.
Where to put the sign:
This safety sign is used to notify people of the risk of electric accidents and keep their safe distance. To achieve this purpose, put the sign somewhere around the access to the switchboard, clearly visible and noticeable. Within a couple of meters of the switchboard is usually the best place to put up the sign.
When choosing the spot, choose one with enough light. If needed, arrange some additional lighting to make it more visible.
Lack of enough safety signs around the main switchboard can result in fatal accidents. So, make sure you place these signs properly.
