Visibility Strip - Geometrix Range | Halftone Dots
Visibility strips, also known as safety strips, are a requirement of the National Construction Code (or NCC). These strips make glazed doors and windows easily visible to people who may have missed them, creating a safer environment for your visitors.
This dot fade design can be applied with the dots fading out to the top or bottom, depending on how you prefer them to look.
Safety strips on glass must meet certain regulations so that they're properly visible, but that doesn't mean that they can't look good and suit the aesthetic of your building! MPL Signage has created various styles of visibility strip to make it easy to find something that suits the look that you're going for.
To meet these regulations, the strip must be a minimum 75mm high solid band that extends edge-to-edge of the glazed panel (it cannot stop short of the edges; it must cover the full width). Additionally, it cannot be transparent and the colour must have a minimum 30% luminance contrast to the surrounding environment to ensure that it stands out and can be easily seen. The bottom edge of the safety strip must be positioned between 900mm and 1000mm from the floor.
Our safety strips are all designed so that the centre portion of the design always meets the 75mm solid minimum height with no design cut out of this area. To give more life to them, our designs have embellishments that sit outside of this requirement to ensure that your safety strip suits your building.
Ordering Information:
Our visibility strips are cut-to-order to the specified lengths; these are not 'off the roll' products.
To properly order your strip, please specify the length per piece from the dropdown menu, and the number of pieces to be supplied at this length.
There is a maximum length of 2m per strip as it is uncommon for most buildings to have a single pane of glass larger than this with no mullions or silicone beading that would inhibit the application of the strip.
For longer continuous strips, please contact us directly and we can arrange a special order for you.
We recommend measuring the width of your glass, and order 1 size up from this width even if the glass is the exact same size as the strip. This will allow you to trim off any excess and will ensure that your strip correctly extends from edge to edge.
All safety strips will come applied with high-tack application tape and guidelines on how to install them.
